2015 Ford Escape: The Choice of Consumers

The 2015 Ford Escape is one of the most popular compact SUVs in its segment. Already on the market for a while now, the Escape received a redesign a few years ago, thus becoming one of the newer models in its competitive segment vehicles. For 2015, the Escape is back without too many changes, but that should not impact its popularity since the recipe of the Escape’s success is due to its engines that are both fuel-efficient and powerful, and its interior space. All of that is back this year.

Offered from $23,799, the Escape is one of the most affordable compact SUVs in its segment. It is offered with three engines, two of which receive EcoBoost technology. The first, a four-cylinder, 1.6-liter engine develops 178 horsepower (173 with regular gasoline) and 184 lb-ft of torque. The torque is available at very low speeds allowing the Escape to stand out by offering not only strong accelerations, but particularly powerful and reassuring passing.

Those who want even more power will turn to the four-cylinder, 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that offers 240 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Available from 3000 RPM, the EcoBoost engine’s torque makes for even more impressive performance.

Despite all this power, the 2015 Ford Escape has an average fuel consumption rating of only 9.4 liters per 100 kilometers in all-wheel drive version with the 1.6-liter engine, and 10.1 liters per 100 kilometers with the 2.0-liter engine. No doubt, Ford has managed to develop engines that do not require any compromises in terms of power to be efficient.

If you need to tow with your Escape, know that the maximum towing capacity is 1,587 kg with the 2.0-liter engine equipped with the towing package. Otherwise, the capacity is still 907 kg, which is more than enough. With the base 2.5-liter engine developing 168 horsepower, the maximum capacity is 680 kg. In terms of cargo space, the Escape offers 2778 liters of interior space and a cargo area that can hold 971 liters.

On the road, the Escape offers a nice balance between comfort and sportiness as it remains stable and predictable on the road while not being afraid of curves. Inversely, the suspension is able to accept the holes and bumps in the road, and the quietness of the interior greatly improves any trip you may take.
